What you missed this weekend!
This weekend, a good amount of stuff happened in the gaming world. There was the EVO 2013 championship, where all the top names in fighting games duke it for championships in several different fighting games. In the world of Nintendo, there was the release of a big update for 3DS StreetPass. Oh and, Steam is having yet another sale, and as always the wallets of gamers everywhere are screaming for mercy.
The 11th annual EVO happened this weekend. Many great fighters fell and some new names wiggled their way to the top. There was some interesting controversy around EVO this year when Nintendo announced that they wouldn’t allow Super Smash Brothers Melee be streamed. Due to fan outrage, Nintendo took back its decision and Melee was streamed for more than 130K people to watch online. In fact, Melee was the biggest fighting game stream in history according to Kotaku.

Something else to keep in mind is the summer steam sale. The deals come and go pretty fast, and worse of all steam shows you exactly which sales you missed to rub it in your face and keep you watching, just in case that one game you REALLY NEED in your life goes on sale. Right now Castle Crashers is on sale for 4.99 and there are so many people shopping the sale that the store can barely stay online. Try downloading the Application on your mobile phone to keep up to date with whats going on.
Nintendo released a big update for 3DS StreetPass. In my article “Everything right about Nintendo 3DS”, StreetPass is mentioned as one of the best features of the system and I still stand by that statement. The new update did a few small changes to the interface and how the StreetPass environment looks, but there was another very big change. The fact that 4 new games were added to StreetPass! These games cover everything from space shooters to a game about raising and breeding plants. Along with the new games, the update added a system where you can use tickets to buy things like outfits and hats. Keep in mind these games are 5 dollars each. These games will be reviewed by Lowkey Gaming at a later point. Official video below.
